Last weekend a black stretch limo pulled up in front of the house across the street from us. Pretty amazing to see one of those in our neighborhood, so it was neat for our kids to see.
What surprised me was that I looked out the window and saw about 10-12 little girls (about 10-11 years old) get out of the limo with toilet paper in hand and start rolling our neighbor’s yard.
After the initial shock and wanting to go stop it…….I saw that there was an adult who appeared to be one of the girls’ mother in the front seat supervising it all. When they were finished, they got back in the black stretch limo and drove off.
The next day I was talking to the dad at the house that got rolled, and he just laughed and said, “Yeah, I bet they had fun! I made my sons come clean it up.” He knew who did it and thought it was funny. I could go on and on, but I don’t see anything humorous about this.
Needless to say, we had a long talk about why this is not acceptable behavior for our family. (And for those of you reading who are wondering…….NO, I never rolled anyone’s yard when I was a teenager. I wanted to, but never did. However, we did get rolled once and it rained…so I can speak first hand how awful it is to have to clean up that mess!) Let’s keep the toilet paper in the bathroom!

I admit I rolled a few yards when I was a teenager. It wasn’t my favorite thing to do, but I took part. It was the worst thing our group did, a seemed a lot less harmful than what some kids were doing.
That a parent would spend the money to get a stretch limo for a night so their kids can roll a yard in style? Now that’s the strange part.
When you roll a house, you park far enough away that you aren’t seen, and you slink up to the house and roll quietly, then slink back to your car. That was most of the fun.
